Russian Language 1: Elementary

Teaching hours: 144 (six weeks)

Course Description

Upon completion the course the students will be able

  • to understand and use familiar expressions and very basic phrases aimed at satisfying everyday needs (greetings, personal and family life, shopping, eating out, accommodation and housing, transport and finding a way out, expressing likes and dislikes and so on);
  • to introduce themselves and others;
  • to ask and answer personal questions;
  • to interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

In this introductory course students develop basic skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students acquire foundational grammar structures and vocabulary and learn communicative skills for simple everyday situations.

Russian Language 2: Basic User

Teaching hours: 264 (eleven weeks)

Course Description

Upon completion the course the students will be able

  • understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance;
  • to respond with some confidence and accuracy to authentic Russian in the areas of experience covered (local geography, employment, plans for the future, weather, traveling, and so on);
  • describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Students will consolidate the grammatical concepts and structures covered at the Elementary level, and extend their application.

Prerequisites: elementary knowledge of the language

Russian Language 3: Intermediate

Teaching hours: 360 (seventeen weeks)

Course Description

Upon completion the course the students will be able

  • understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc;
  • deal with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling in an area where the language is spoken;
  • produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest;
  • describe experiences and events and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

The students will get some basic knowledge of Russian history and culture, Russian language stylistics, and business Russian.

Prerequisites: Basic User level

Diplomas, exams

Courses offered by Russian Language Center for Foreign Students end with exams after which students receive a certificate of finishing the course of an appropriate level. Intermediate level certificate enables the owner to apply for studying at Samara State Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Tuition fee

An individual course is $800 per person per month.

A group course (3 persons and more) is $250 per person per month.

Accommodation

For students who inform about the exact time of their arrival and number of flight beforehand we will organize a transfer from the airport to the students’ hostel. You will get located in one-, two-, or three-bed rooms in the students’ hostel. The accommodation fee is $70 per person per month (meals are not included).
